GOSPEL ARTIST J.E.JONES FEATURED IN GOSPELLYFE MAGAZINE....

INDIE ARTIST SPOTLIGHT-J.E. Jones

GospelLyfe viewers, we would like to introduce to you all a Gospel artist that you all need to keep a look out for. He is no stranger to the music industry. We are glad to say that he is a Gospel Music artist that will have your attention for years to come. Get to know more about this artist once you....

From his humble beginning as a hip-hop mogul to a soon-to-be celebrated gospel artist,  J.E. Jones is no stranger to the music industry. An accomplished songwriter, producer and executive, this New York native has established a strong foundation in music and a love for God and he is busy saving souls and ministering through his music.

Although his childhood was extremely dysfunctional and one of constant struggle and pain, he refused to give up on life. From growing up in the projects, to being surrounded by a crack cocaine era to a family of alcoholics, some predicted he would not make it out.

However, his energy and spirit is so contagious it spills onto his debut album, Fire, which is sure to encourage one to trust God and to hold on and not give up. The first CD release by J.E. Jones is a musical affirmation of Jones’ talent, passion and praise to God. When he speaks, it doesn’t take very long to figure out that he is serious about his mission. “Fire” is a celebration of gospel music with elements of contemporary and urban gospel, and is heavily influenced with funky beats and a strong dose of inspiration. His debut single, Turn Around is a track that cries out to God for a better life. The CD will be released July 20, 2010.

Although his love affair with hip-hop began a couple of decades ago, he is still passionate about music. When you listen to his music, you can feel the Hip-hop and R&B influence in his music. “I come from the secular world, and I’m not excluding it in what I’m doing now. Everyone looks for guidance at some point in their life, and whether they truly receive the guidance they’re given depends on how your present it. I believe God is using me to work through the secular world. I just transformed it from the secular world to the gospel. Now, I’m going to transfer the gospel back to the secular. Be ye transformed,“ says J.E. Jones.

Known as “Junior” in the secular word, he got his start in the music industry as an intern under music mogul Andre Harrell at Uptown Records. With his strong work ethics and a gift for discovering and nurturing talent, he quickly climbed the ranks at Uptown in record time. He went from intern to A&R Director to Vice President of A&R. His impressive track record reads like a “Who’s Who in the Entertainment Industry”. It’s no secret that he worked with hip-hop and R&B mega superstars Mary J. Blige, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Heavy D and Montell Jordan and that he served as executive producer for the soundtracks for Rush Hour and The Nutty Professor.

After several years at Uptown Records, J.E. Jones accepted a position at Def Jam Records as VP of A&R. Shortly after joining Def Jam, he accepted Jesus Christ in his life. Even though many wondered what he was doing working in the entertainment industry and saved, he persevered in his walk with God. “Being a saved record executive was a heavy burden to carry in an industry that praises material wealth and values that are often the direct opposite of those the church encourages.” It wasn’t long before they realized that he was not only on top of his game, but he was serious about his walk with God.

While J.E. Jones wrote and arranged the songs on his album, he is also the CEO of his own Atlanta-based label, Ultimate Entertainment. He wrote and produced his first artist, Bishop Eddie L. Long. He also wrote and produced other artists such as Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, Dorinda Clark and Kierra “Kiki” Sheard. Through his label, he hopes to rejuvenate the gospel especially for the youth in a way they recognize and are comfortable with. “Kids need to know that being saved doesn’t mean they have to give up everything they love, like hip-hop. It’s not about telling them that they’re going to hell, or that they have to wear long skirts all the time. My background is in hip-hop, and I didn’t want to be the traditional gospel label.”

Stay tuned -- it’s obvious that J.E. Jones is just getting started and he is destined for greater things. Visit his site at www.jejones.net. To contact J.E. Jones to come to any venue contact: Angela P. Moore at 770-733-2600 or by email at angiepr42@aol.com
